Border Experience Mission Trip and ways to help
September 16-20, 2019
Join us on a journey of presence ministry in McAllen, Texas. While in McAllen, we will serve with Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley. We serve meals, make sandwiches, talk with legal asylum-seekers and learn transformational stories.
Two ways to help people at the Texas/Mexico Border:

Estimated trip costs:
- Airline flight: ranges $490-650 for flight (from Charlotte) – you book your own flight*
- Hotel: approx. $87-$113 per night – we reserve rooms so whole team stays at same hotel walking distance from the airport – you pay hotel directly at checkout. Email Nholmes@mpumc.org with number count staying in your room. Hotel is Wingate by Wyndham McAllen, 1500 Wichita Ave, McAllen, TX
- Meals: you pay for your own meals

*FLIGHTS: You will make your own flight arrangements to McAllen, Texas. Nathan’s ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE SCHEDULE is shared here so that you can line up a SIMILAR SCHEDULE. Once you have made your plane reservations, send Nancy Holmes at firstname.lastname@example.org your flight arrival and departure schedule so that she can share it with the team.
Nathan’s September 2019 flights are: Departing CLT on Sept. 16 on AA2934 at 7:35am (thru DFW) to arrive at MFE on AA2840 at 12:24pm.
Return flight: AA2840 leaving 1:09pm from MFE on Sept.20 (thru Dallas) to arrive in CLT on AA517 at 7:24pm.
Second way: Order supplies to be shipped directly to Humanitarian Respite Center with the Catholic Charities in Texas: CLICK HERE TO DONATE ITEMS. Your items will be shipped directly to their volunteers to be handed out at the Border.
