Young Adults

We offer a variety of opportunities for adults in their 20’s and 30’s to get involved, be in service, connect with one another, and grow in their faith. All new events and activities on the way in Fall 2019! Stay tuned and for more information or to make suggestions, contact Rev. Jessica Dayson. Every Thursday in August, 9am-11am – Jessica’s Open Office Hours at Undercurrent Coffee in Plaza Midwood (2012 Commonwealth Av.): drop by, grab a coffee and say hello!

Thursday, Aug 15, 7pm – Wooden Robot NODA (1440 S. Tryon St.) – Young Adult social – come hang out and meet other YA from MPUMC

Tuesday, August 20, 11:30am-1:30pm – Wells Fargo Atrium (301 S. Tryon St.)  – Drop by with your lunch and see who else works uptown!

Saturday, Aug 31,  7pm-until – River Jam at the Whitewater Center (5000 Whitewater Center Parkway)

Small Groups for Young Adults

A Young Professional Women’s Bible Study will resume in September, meeting from 7:00-8:00 pm on Wednesdays. More information to come!

Moms Groups are being formed to start in fall. A Wednesday group led by Rev. Jessica Dayson from 10:45-11:45 will meet in room 103, September 11 through May 27. A Thursday group led by Melissa Hurley and Meghan Maciag from 10:45-11:45 will also meet in room 103, September 12 through May 28.  Childcare is available for either, by advance reservation to Lisa Ross-Smit after signing up for your group with the leader listed above.

The Relatives service group meets September-May, serving dinner and hanging out with the children/youth from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Once each quarter, we try to do a fun outing such as a Knights baseball game. The Relatives is a transitional shelter for children and youth ages 7-17.  For more information and to sign up, contact Megan Salvia.

Young Adult Book Club – Join us this fall for a special book study that will analyze the theological concepts and themes within J.R.R.Tolkien’s, “The Lord of the Rings” series. This group will begin meeting in September and start with the book, “The Hobbit.” Day and time are still being worked out but if you have questions or would like to join, please contact Grace Pressley.

Sunday School

Young Adult Sunday School meets at 9:45 am in Room 259 of the Youth Building. Topics include social justice issues, how they relate to the Bible and what how our church is involved. We will also focus on books in the Bible that coincide with the lectionary. For more information contact Hayley Curry.

Agape Sunday School meets at 9:45 am in Room 262 of the Youth Building. Topics often focus on marriage, raising small children and the Bible. For more information contact Mallory Fiery.
