A Special Announcement from James Howell
I was sad but not surprised when Lauren Stines came off maternity leave and shared with me that she really feels called to be at home now with her two children, Ronan and Levi. So, she will be completing her marvelous nine years of faithfulness and love as our Director of Youth Ministries on December 31. I’m sad, but so very grateful for her, her life, witness and friendship, and the way she has transformed our youth ministry here into something amazing and so very vital. You will want to join me in expressing your love and gratitude to her! Here is a message she asked me to share with you:
When I begin to think about my last nine years at Myers Park all I can see are the faces of each of our students changing as they grow. It’s been a true gift and delight to watch SO many students grow through this ministry and find who God has called them to be in this world. Watching and walking with each student in their faith journey has been an amazing and humbling experience for me. I’ve tried to spend my time here honoring who they are in God, who they are in their community and who they are to their parent’s. I’m thankful for not only each student but for the parents that have so faithfully brought their students to Sunday school, Confirmation, Sunday night youth, CHAMP, mission trips, mystery trips, Serving the Cities, Love Feast, the tree sale or one of the numerous events we get to do in youth ministry. On the reverse of this, you as a church have walked with me through being single, to marrying Daniel, having my daughter Ronan and now my son Levi. As I’ve watched the students grow, you have watched me grow as well. With a heavy and very full heart, I feel called to be an at home mom to Ronan and Levi. I’m so thankful to each of you for helping to build me into the mom I am today and I pray that this amazing ministry continues to be a gift to so many students and families. Jason, Ellen and Sarah are the best youth team and you all are in incredible hands. I will be here until December 31 and hope I can see as many of you as possible at our tree sale and Love Feast. Lauren
