Disaster Relief – Emergency Response Training Plus Additional Ways to Help
One of the first ways we can support those affected by disasters like hurricanes and the resulting flooding is with financial gifts – – often even before those most affected are able to receive goods or teams to help rebuild. Three ways to donate to MPUMC’s Disaster Relief fund:
- Click on DISASTER RELIEF
- Or text MPUMC DisasterRelief to 73256 to give to Disaster Relief using your text messaging. Standard text message rates do apply.
- Or write a check to the church with Disaster Relief in the memo line and put it in the offering plate or mail to the church.
We have organized the shipping of requested hurricane-recovery supplies directly to a specified site in one of the hardest hit areas. Those items are available for purchase via our Amazon Wishlist.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT WAY TO HELP – – ATTEND EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING: Interested in becoming a First Responder after disasters like Hurricanes Florence and Michael? The Western North Carolina Annual Conference is offering trainings this fall. UMCOR’s participants learn the basics of disaster response, including how to stabilize and secure homes safely, and how to work effectively with survivors and others on the response team. To learn more, visit ERT-training.
