Health Ministries Team

Care Teams

New Parent Visitation

Visits are made to new parents to offer support and deliver a casserole.  For more information about serving in this ministry contact Lisa Zopp, coordinator at

Health Room Outreach

Health Ministries Equipment Closet:  Wheelchairs, walkers and other medical equipment are available to loan to those having a need for the equipment.  Contact Susan Mobley, Parish Nurse at 704-295-4836 or


Bloodmobile is held in the Youth Building Gym at 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at MPUMC twice a year.  Consider donating blood – the Gift of Life – Contact Carmen Rivera at or 704-295-4818 for an appointment. Or volunteering at the Blood Drive – Contact Robert Lutz at

Flu Shots

Flu Shots are held in the fall  in Combo Rooms 106/7/8 of the Parish Life Building.

CPR AED Training

CPR AED Class:  No training dates available at this time.  To take the class contact Carmen Rivera at or call 704-295-4818. Cost is $30.00. We have 3 AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) on campus – hallway behind Sanctuary, Parish Life Lobby and Youth Building Gym.  Consider taking this class.  It can save a life!

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D counseling is offered yearly in October, November and December, during open enrollment for Medicare Part D.  Two church members are S.H.I.I.P. trained and offer one-on-one counseling for those becoming eligible for Medicare or those wishing to change their Medicare Part D Plan.  Contact Carmen Rivera at or call 704-295-4818.

Sedgefield Elementary Health Room

Fall Offerings for 2017

Exercise Classes              

NEW Forming a Pilates Class – If you are interested in taking a Pilates class on a Monday or Wednesday afternoon or evening, join us Wednesday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 103 for a meeting of interest to discuss class time. Pilates exercises work on strengthening and stretching the muscles of your core, the fundamentals of Pilates focus on protecting and lengthening your spine. All levels welcome! Cost $8 a class.

Functional Fitness Class for those over age 60:

Functional Fitness for Active Aging: Enjoy a 60-minute workout tailored specifically to the needs of older adults! This group exercise class is designed and led by a licensed, physical therapist and will show you how to exercise safely and to gain maximum benefit. It is suited for everyone regardless of your current fitness level. The focus is on:

• Strengthen lower body & core muscles (protect your back!)
• Decreasing joint pain & stiffness
• Increasing back flexibility & mobility
• Improving posture (undo bad habits!)
• Balance training
• Understanding the brain-body connection

Cost: $5 per class; first class is FREE!
Class Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Class Times: 10:30-11:30

Cardio Sculpting Class:

Cardio Sculpting – Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. in the Fitness Room of the Youth Building. Instructor Sara Novajosky leads this group in a cardio workout to get your morning off to a good start! Cost $50.00 for 8 classes.

Ground of Grace Yoga:

Ground of Grace Yoga with Melanie – Thursdays at 9:15 – 10:30 a.m. in Room 031 of the Snyder Building. Melanie is wonderful at tying the Scripture into Yoga moves for a class that provides inspiration and strengthening of body, mind and spirit.
