Health Ministries Team

This team coordinates the programs and offerings related to health and wellness here at MPUMC.  They meet 6 times a year.  If you’d like to find out more about the Health Ministries Team, please contact Susan Mobley, Parish Nurse at 704-295-4836 or smobley@mpumc.org.

Care Teams

A team of 6 or more volunteers responding to the needs of a congregation member and/or family experiencing health issues or crisis.  See hand out on Care Team Ministry or contact Ann Edwards at aedwards52@carolina.rr.com or Ashley Hunt at ashleyhunt2004@gmail.com.

New Parent Visitation

Visits are made to new parents to offer support and deliver a casserole.  For more information about serving in this ministry contact Lisa Zopp, coordinator at zoppnc@aol.com.

Health Room Outreach

Health Ministries Equipment Closet:  Wheelchairs, walkers and other medical equipment are available to loan to those having a need for the equipment.  Contact Susan Mobley, Parish Nurse at 704-295-4836 or smobley@mpumc.org.

Bloodmobile

Bloodmobile occurs 2 or 3 Sundays a year at MPUMC.  Consider donating blood – the Gift of Life – or volunteering at the Blood Drive.  Contact Robert Lutz at Robert_lutz@att.net.

Flu Shots

Flu Shots are given 2 afternoons every fall in the Parish Life Building.

CPR AED Training

Classes are offered Spring and Fall at MPUMC.  We have 3 AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) on campus – hallway behind Sanctuary, Parish Life Lobby and Youth Building Gym.  Consider taking this class.  It can save a life!

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D counseling is offered yearly in October, November and December, during open enrollment for Medicare Part D.  Two church members are S.H.I.I.P. trained and offer one-on-one counseling for those becoming eligible for Medicare or those wishing to change their Medicare Part D Plan.

Sedgefield Elementary Health Room

Twice during the school year we provide additional supplies needed by the school nurse at Sedgefield to care for the health needs of the children at that school.  If interested contact Jean Cannon at jwcannon444@gmail.com or Barbara Crum at bcrumm@bellsouth.net.

Spring/Summer offerings for 2016

Exercise Classes              

Yoga:

  • Yoga Bob will lead an eight-week Gentle Yoga class Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.in Room 031 of the Snyder Building. Cost is $80. Bring a mat and large towel or blanket.  Reach him at yogabob@me.com.

Functional Fitness Class for those over age 60:

Suzi Rosen, Licensed Physical Therapist, Leads a functional fitness classon  Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:30 am in the Parish Life Expansion Space. She focuses on balance and core strengthening. Cost is $24.00 for a month or $5.00 per class. Contact Suzi at 704-376-3179 or srosen@carolina.rr.com

Cardio Sculpting Class:

This cardio and strengthening class is for all fitness levels. It meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:30 in the Fitness Room of the Youth Building – across from the Gym. Cost is $50.00 for 8 classes.
